“Annie, Get Your Gum” Published In SPIDER

 In Announcements, Magazines, Poetry, Writing

My poem “Annie, Get Your Gum” is in this month’s issue of Spider, one of several children’s magazines put out by Cricket Media. Spider is a literary magazine for kids ages 6-9, which it describes as “that magical age when children first get excited about reading on their own.”

The artwork for this poem was done by Agnes Ernoult, who came up with an exciting and creative interpretation of my work. I originally envisioned Annie as a human, not a squirrel, but I love how the finished product turned out.

Cricket Media, originally founded as the Carus Publishing Company in 1973, currently publishes eleven award-winning children’s magazines. Their literary publications include Babybug, Ladybug, Spider, Cricket, and Cicada and their non-fiction line includes Muse, Cobblestone, Faces, Dig Into History, Click, and Ask. Spider started in 1994.
